12-yr-old Pinoy wins gold in Sokor taekwondo tilt

A 12-year-old Filipino won the gold medal at the poom sae event of the World Taekwondo Culture Expo held from July 4-11 in South Korea.


Melanie Hope Douglas of Alaminos City National High School in Pangasinan brought home the gold at the 13-year-old and below division of the event.

DAGUPAN CITY—The mayor of Agno, Pangasinan, was shot dead while he was playing mahjong with friends in a neighbor’s house on Saturday night.


Pangasinan police director Senior Supt. Isagani Nerez said Agno Mayor Arthur Cabantac died from four bullet wounds after the suspect shot him at 9:30 p.m. through an open window in the house of his friend, Cecilia Bona, in Barangay Poblacion East in the town.

 
Sandiganbayan orders Pangasinan mayor jailed

A Pangasinan mayor has been ordered jailed by the Sandiganbayan Second Division for beating up two suspected cattle rustlers inside his office six years ago.


The anti-graft court on July 31 convicted Burgos town Mayor Domingo Doctor Jr. of two counts of slight physical injuries filed against him by Felipe bonzo and Rudy Bonode.

BOLINAO, Pangasinan – Jose Rolly Bagor, 38, was gloomy when he reached his home in Bolinao town in Pangasinan. He had been fishing for 15 hours at sea in his small boat but caught only two small tuna.


“I had to pull another fisherman’s boat whose engine broke down,” he says. An unwritten law of the sea is for fishermen to always help fellow fishermen in distress.
